Napa Valley

Napa Valley Guide- Where to Go, Eat and Sleep

If you’ve seen my Instagram, you know that I went to Napa Valley earlier this month.  I have to say that going to Napa with my husband was such an amazing trip for me.  I went to Napa with a friend and it was fun, but I really wanted to experience it with my husband.  Not only is Napa romantic, but it's such a beautiful place to experience with someone you love.....and I learned so much. Many people think that going to Napa is just about drinking lots of wine. Well, for some it is, but for us we loved learning about how wine was made and how each one is different, in addition to tasting many wines. It’s actually inspired me to take some classes in wine making. What I have to say next may make you sad.....going to Napa on a tight budget is hard.  Many of the hotels in the area can be very pricey and many of the most popular wineries charge a fee for tastings.   As with any wine tasting trip, you don't want to stay in a hotel that is too far away because you have to drive. You could take an Uber or hire a driver...Read More

Spiced Mixed Nuts

Spiced Mixed Nuts- Perfect for any Party

I think these spiced mixed nuts are the perfect accompaniment to a great cocktail.  That's why I love to make them when I have company over, have a cocktail party or just to enjoy while having "cocktail hour" on the patio with my husband.  These are always a hit at every party.  The combination of sweet, savory and spicy really wows the pallet.  This recipe can easily be tweaked by using your favorite nuts rather than the ones I uses (which are my favs).  If you make this for your friends they will most certainly love it, so you should probably make a lot! Please check out my latest YouTube video to learn some additional tips and tricks on how I make the recipe.  You'll be able to check out my husband's amazing pan flipping skills too.   https://youtu.be/nUDKl-eDkwg Spiced Mixed Nuts 2 cup mixed nuts: cashews (almonds, walnuts, whatever you like)2 tablespoon brown sugar2 tablespoon butter2 teaspoons Tabasco5-6 sprigs rosemary (de-stemmed & chopped)Flaky sea salt to taste Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. How to Pack a Wine Picnic

How to Pack a Wine Picnic- My Favorite Essentials

If you've seen my Instagram, you know that I love going wine tasting and I love a good picnic.  If you've ever been wine tasting, you probably noticed the strange phenomenon that wineries rarely have food.  If they do have food, they usually don't have much variety and it won't be gluten free (I'm gluten intolerant).  Therefore, I'm in the habit of packing a wine picnic when we go wine tasting.  I've packed quite a few at this point, so I know what works and what doesn't, so I'm pretty much an expert on how to pack a wine picnic.   Here are my Wine Picnic Essentials:     I decided that instead of buying a picnic table cover that I would simply re-purpose one of my Turkish beach towels.  It can be very windy on a vineyard, so these colorful cloth napkins come in very handy. I love these great melamine salad plates and they all fit in the picnic basket.  Pack an all purpose cutting board I love to bring music with me too, but make sure that you're not bothering other people.  I love this Beats Pill. I also really love my insulated picnic basket.  Not only...Read More
Gluten Free Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes

Gluten Free Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes

If you’re still on the fence about what dessert to make this year's Thanksgiving feast look no further because I'm making Gluten Free Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes. I am making my Gluten Free Pumpkin Spice Cake from last year into cupcakes because I happen to like cupcakes a lot better and it’s gluten-free.  If you don’t want to make them gluten-free you can exchange the gluten free flour in the recipe one-to-one for regular flour if you like.    As you may have guessed, I like all the recipes that I post on my blog which is why I post them, but I absolutely love this recipe. I have to make sure when I make either the cake or cupcakes that I have lots of friends and family around so that I don’t end up eating the entire batch myself. The cream cheese frosting really makes the yummy spice cake over the top delicious.   It’ll be hard for me to choose between this recipe and my pumpkin crème brûlée recipe to make for Thanksgiving, but I’m leaning on making this one. I guess you will have to check out my Instagram to find out which one I make.  If you end...Read More
