Tips for Hosting a Cocktail Party

Cocktail Party Etiquette for the Host and Guest

I love a good cocktail party, I love hosting them and attending them.  I believe the art of hosting a cocktail party is a bit lost.  I learned much of what I know about hosting from my sister in law Ellen, she is a fabulous host, you always feel at home, she is very accommodating of her guests needs and she is great at keeping the conversation going by managing introductions between guests to make sure that no one ever feels left out or lonely during one of her parties.  Don't get me started about the fabulous food she always serves, whether catered or homemade, there is something for everyone.  Here are some key Cocktail Party Etiquette questions with answers that I have learned from her and by being a host myself. Cocktail Party Etiquette for the Host: How do you gently ask people to leave? A great way to signal that the party is coming to a close without having to directly and verbally ask guests to leave is to gradually start turning on lights, turning down the music and beginning the cleanup. Guests will get the hint that it's time to leave when they see you putting dishes in...Read More

San Jose del Cabo, The Top 5 Places to Visit

I love going to Los Cabos.  If you’re not familiar with the area, Los Cabos is made up of Cabo San Lucas, San Jose del Cabo and the area in between is called the "Tourist Corridor," see the map below for details.  I did a blog that was more focused on Cabo San Lucas last year, so this time I wanted to do a blog that focused more on San Jose del Cabo.  This was our first time staying in San Jose del Cabo and we decided to checkout all of the current hot spots.  We checked out several places, but these are the 5 places and events that made the list. Hair Care Favorites

My Current Hair Care Favorites

Today I'm sharing my current hair care favorites, the products that I use daily/weekly.  These are the ones I keep buying again and again.  Here are my current go-tos: Hair Care Favorites- Shampoo, Conditioner and Treatments Davines Minu Shampoo- This is a moisturizing shampoo, but it won't weight down your hair or leave residue. Matrix Oil Wonders Micro-Oil Conditioner- I use this conditioner daily, it very moisturizing so I only add it to the ends of my hair. Aveda Clove Conditioner- I use this color depositing conditioner on my hair every few days.  I find that this conditioner isn't very moisturizing so I use at the same time to the Matrix Oil Wonders Micro-Oil Conditioner. amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo- I don't use dry shampoo very often because I like to wash my hair everyday.  On the days that I don't wash my hair, this is great.  My hair can get quite oily so this soaks up the oil without leaving a white cast or residue behind and it smells great. Matrix Wonders Indian Amla Oil-  I love to use this in the shower while I condition my hair.  It just an extra bit of moisture to my hair when...Read More
Eveleigh Lemonade, Tequila Lemonade

Tequila Lemonade aka the Eveleigh Lemonade

I love cocktails with tequila, but I have to admit sometimes I get tired of just having margaritas or a tequila and soda.  I have been in search of a new tequila drink.  Then I remembered a drink called the "Eveleigh Lemonade", which is basically a margarita with lemon and honey instead of lime and agave nectar. I first was introduced to this cocktail at it's namesake restaurant The Eveleigh in West Hollywood, CA in 2012.  I’ve been in search of the recipe for this drink ever since and I finally found it on the Imbibe Magazine site.  What makes this drink interesting and different is the chamomile and lemon infused tequila and the use of the aperitif Cocchi Americano.    So, what exactly is Cocchi Americano?   Well, according to Wikipedia: "Cocchi Americano is a quinine-laced aperitif wine produced by Giulio Cocchi Spumanti in the Asti province of Italy. Cocchi Americano is a variety of Americano. The wine was developed by Giulio Cocchi, and production began in 1891."
