Spending the Day in Venice Beach

Los Angeles is synonymous with summer ... living in the Hollywood Hills means sometimes you just need to add the beach to the equation. One of my favorite day trips is Venice Beach. It's got a flavor all its own and only 30 minutes away ...when there's no traffic (which is never) ... or 2 hours when the I10 is bumper to bumper. Nevertheless its always worth the trip. Here are a few of the sights I like to hit to get the very most out of my visit. Let me know your favorites in the comments below. First stop (after searching for parking) is a great latte or cup of coffee, I love Menotti's.  I was strolling around checking out the little beach shops one morning when I smelled the delicious aroma of coffee in the air. I followed my nose and ended up at Menotti's. It's a small, charming and they know how to make a great latte, complete with latte art. Where to Check Out the Spring Super Bloom in Southern California

So spring is certainly showing its beauty in Southern California, the spring super bloom is in full swing.  As you may know from my Instagram, I love flowers and I've found some great locations to see some of these impressive blooms.  I wanted to make sure to share them with you, so that you have a chance to check out the spring super bloom before it ends. I would highly recommend that you check out the Flower Fields in Carlsbad California. According to Wikipedia: The Flower Fields is a flower garden found on the Carlsbad Ranch in Carlsbad, California. It opens up once a year in spring from March 1 through May 10. Here is a link to the Flower Fields website for more information. Where can you see the Spring Super Bloom? The Flower Fields: I would also recommend going to the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve.    According to Wikipedia: Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve is a state-protected reserve of California, harboring the most consistent blooms of California poppies, the state flower.  The reserve is open to visitors year-round.
